21 Froglets

Typical. I go away for a few days and… froglets!

The pond was covered with fallen branches and pond weed when I returned, so I wasn’t looking closely, just busy tidying up and checking water quality. I added three buckets of rainwater from the butt. And then when I peered into the slightly murky water, I thought nothing much had happened. The tadpoles with legs seemed a tad bigger, and there seemed to be more with legs.

It was when I started to tidy up around the pond, repositioning pebbles displaced by birds and other visitors, that I spotted a tiny froglet, and another and another. Then I ran up to the house for my phone so I could share with you. The photos are lifesize. The videos are mostly close up and magnified. They are actually very small and hard to see if they’re not moving.

Froglets: Well on the way to becoming a frog but still showing the tadpole tail which is now being reabsorbed into the body.
