36 Skin

Froglets are still emerging from the pond and I saw one today, skin all wet and still with its long, shiny black tail.

Compare that froglet to the one I found by the bins today, its tail almost absorbed. It seemed quite dull and smooth at first, a mid brown. But when I got in close with the camera, the skin is complex with many colours, especially in the sunlight. The arms and legs seem to be translucent and the ridges along the back are characteristic of the adult frog this one will hopefully become.

And here’s a clip of that same froglet staying very still because I’m watching. The frog does nothing at all but notice the insect crawl over its eyeball. I wouldn’t want to play who blinks first with a frog.
