Couldn’t see any froglets this morning. All tucked up among the leaves I expect. Really quiet in the pond too. I stood watching for a few minutes and only counted about four tadpoles swimming about. Felt a bit sad really, now all the activity is over.
I put the waterproof case onto my camera and took some video underwater to see if there were any lurking lower down and caught a few looking a bit bored, and some pond snails and waterboatmen.
Finally, just in case, I threw in some food; a mix of the types meant for tadpoles with and without legs and the meaty option for froglets. Nothing happened for about ten minutes but then they all came out of hiding. Much more fun to watch. Look out for the comedy acrobatics from the pair with really dangly legs at the back. Surely it will only take a couple of sunny days for their arms to pop out.
