71 Closer spawn development

In the last post I noted that the video was shaking because I was hovering over the pond with nothing to support my arm and with the camera zoomed in. Not ideal. So, today I came up with a solution.

Not exactly high tech. I found a couple of canes in the garden shed to lay across the pond and then rested my phone across the canes. It worked, so now any movement in the clips is just the moving spawn caused by the breeze across the surface.

Keeping the camera resting on the canes, I moved it about with it set between 5 and 10 x zoom and quite quickly found some interesting scenes.

Notice in some of the clips you can see frilly gills developing.

Watching these clips, I’m amazed to hear the birdsong, barking dogs and road noise, so loud compared to this silent process happening just below the surface.
