The focus of this blog is the pond snail. This is a tiny creature, no bigger than my smallest fingernail, whose size is no measure of importance, due to its liking for pond detritus and algae. Here we see one doggedly pursuing its goal in spite of the frantic efforts of the tadpoles to strip the pond liner clean.
And the garden really is blooming in the recent warm weather. The video clips give you an idea of the activity and sounds of the wildlife, and the pictures below add the visual impact, in and around the water. My particular favourite is the fig leaf emerging alongside the promise of a juicy fig later in the summer, great with Parma ham and a drizzle of honey.
