At last the seemingly quiet Lion Pond is now alive with activity. The spawn I moved there to reduce the congestion in Tiny Pond has done well. The jelly spawn blob has been consumed, and there are more tadpoles than I can count, taking advantage of a pond as yet free of much else, apart from the occasional snail.

As in Blog 74, the snail takes centre stage. This one is quite big, almost the size of my smallest fingernail, and in the sunlight it displays pearly golden colours and cream bands around its shell. Moving around carefully on a Victorian edging tile, strategically placed so that amphibians can leave the water when needed, it helpfully shows us how it gets around.

The video clips below show the same snail on the move. You can clearly see the antennae and the large foot, used for movement and anchorage. The background noise is the wind gusting across the pond, rippling the surface. An occasional tadpole swims across the scene.
