Each time I upload a video to YouTube, I have to select the audience and I always choose ‘made for kids’ and hope the blog will be fascinating for children of all ages. I would certainly include myself in that age bracket.

I feel the same about the tree house, which can be enjoyed by anyone at any age if they are nimble enough to climb the ladder. Looking out over the ponds and the garden from a different perspective, among the cool leaves on a hot afternoon, and hidden from sight, just feels so good. I have John to thank for this nature haven. He built it from scratch for me (and the children of course) and, like the ponds, it seems like it’s always been there.

When the grandchildren visit, they’re keen to go frog spotting and, provided they are gently supervised, the garden is the perfect antidote to any kind of screen time. Here’s one little helper, usually an expert on all things dinosaur and minecraft, carefully catching and examining some fat tadpoles in Lily Pond.
