The weather has been lovely and warm. Bees have been buzzing round the ponds and the tadpoles have been doing tadpole stuff, but nothing more to write home (or blog) about since blog 77. So I have spent time scooping the annoying tree snow off the ponds each day, which is pleasantly therapeutic, and with no further pool action imminent, I’ve focused on the flowers around the ponds instead.
April brings a blue theme to the garden, with bluebells, forget-me-not, Ajuga and Ceanothus. And you can see one of the pollen snowflakes caught on a Ceanothus bud (so imagine what that’s like times a million).

While taking pictures, I’ve had time to reflect on the overall impact of the ponds, now well over two years on from the first design. And I think they’re all maturing nicely. Even the relatively new Lion Pond seems to have settled into the garden scene. So here’s a gallery showing the three ponds as they are now, in April 2025.

And finally, beyond the garden, and in keeping with the blue theme, here are some pictures taken in the bluebell wood nearby.

I’ll be back in the garden soon, so please subscribe and watch this space for more life in a tiny pond. Bye for now.
