95 Operation bryozoans

First, I’ll show you a couple of nice shots of frogs on the chippings in the Yard. They’re very well camouflaged, so we have to be careful when we’re stomping about fixing things and moving the bins. I didn’t spot the two tiny ones at first when I was snapping the large one.

Then onto something a lot less attractive. Apparently, according to the results of AI and lots of Googling, bryozoans are harmless and even helpful, and a sign of a healthy pond. But I’m not convinced. They’re in all three ponds but, in Lion Pond, they seem to be taking over.

So this weekend I have been fishing it out and leaving it on the soil to see if anything likes it. I’ve also topped up the ponds with rainwater again as the dry weather seems never-ending (except that as I’m typing this it has finally begun to rain).
