Today I have some close ups to show you. In a series of clips taken from just above the water surface, using the canes to support the phone, you can make out eyes and mouths and see the detail of the gills.

You can also see how tightly packed the tadpoles are, although increasingly I’m seeing them all across the pond now.
The background noise is the distant road into Leamington Spa and occasional aircraft overhead on its way to Birmingham airport, and the garden wildlife of course.

The still shots show them in clumps still in the jelly and also individual and small groups basking in the warm water at the edges, starting to feed on the algae.

Here you can see the bubbles from decomposing spawn jelly and algae. And you can also make out clumps of tadpoles next to spawn that is still developing.

In other news, it’s definitely Spring in the garden, with flowers and buds appearing everywhere…

And the final video today was taken using the endoscope underwater, showing tadpoles swimming freely amongst the algae and pebbles. I’m hoping that with so many tadpoles in the pond, the algae will soon be under control.
